Judges 9:8 The trees went forth on a time to anoint a king over them; and they said unto the olive tree, Reign thou over us. 9 But the olive tree said unto them, Should I leave my fatness, wherewith by me they honour God and man, and go to be promoted over the trees? 10 And the trees said to the fig tree, Come thou, and reign over us. 11 But the fig tree said unto them, Should I forsake my sweetness, and my good fruit, and go to be promoted over the trees? 12 Then said the

Isaiah 58:1 Cry aloud, spare not, lift up thy voice like a trumpet, and shew my people their transgression, and the house of Jacob their sins. 2 Yet they seek me daily, and delight to know my ways, as a nation that did righteousness, and forsook not the ordinance of their God: they ask of me the ordinances of justice; they take delight in approaching to God. 3 Wherefore have we fasted, say they, and thou seest not? wherefore have we afflicted our soul, and thou takest no k

It seems that we have become a very thin skinned people taking offense at anything and everything; especially when no offense was intended or even offered. A man cannot speak his mind without considering who might take offense. Gone are the days of freedom of speech—a foundational principle of a democratic republic. To preface a thought with “no offense intended’ seems to draw more ire than to just flatly say what you are thinking. It is a no win situation. Freedom to expr

It does not matter which tag you apply; republican democrat, conservative liberal, capitalism or socialism—it seems we are determined to be limited to two groups and thereby two extremes. As believers we must not tread the middle or try to straddle fences. We are commanded let your yay be yay and your nay be nay. If we limit ourselves to human perspective we always come out with extremes. We do not need to be vicious and vitriolic in our communications. Let your speech be

Joy to the world the LORD has come

Has anyone else noticed that Walmart radio and other sources are not playing the original hymn/Christmas carol by Isaac Watts “Joy to the world the LORD has come”. It has been replaced by Three Dog Night’s “Joy to the world all the boys and girls…” Or what used to be referred to by the first line as Jeremiah was a bullfrog.
I do not see the boogie man everywhere, but I do see the very strong impact of secularism/humanism in America; and it is growing exponentially. I do no

Pray without ceasing

Honestly; praying in these times is a difficult duty and a real responsibility. Jeremiah was moved of God three times with the words pray NOT for this people. The context and cause for the command issued in Jeremiah is the idolatry of the people—they named God, but their actions and activities proved them to be false professors and reprobate silver. Therefore, do NOT pray for their good.
I do not think that means we should not pray for them at all. The key is the phrase “fo

I have been silent for several weeks… mostly allowing this political cycle to run it’s course. I am not Republican or Democrat—at the very best I am a Christian. I do not conform to any political party, but I strive to allow God to conform me to the image of Christ. I do have preferences about the direction of the country and desires for our government leadership. I desire Godly leadership, but I am convinced that the only one that can provide the leadership I desire is Go

Just my 2 cents

“Just my 2 cents.” It is used to preface a tentative statement of one’s opinion. By deprecating the opinion to follow—suggesting its value is only two cents, a very small amount—the user of the phrase, showing politeness and humility, hopes to lessen the impact of a possibly contentious statement.
Change shortage is a myth. So many people offering 2 cents proves there is plenty of change. Sometimes your two cents cost more than 2 cents.
So many are sharing these days t

Fat free, gluten free, sugar free, and just recently I saw cruelty free, which I learned is another way to say Vegan. I will stipulate that I am all for organic, but I question why it cost more not to use chemicals.
The issue is that it cost more not to have the fat or sugar than it does to enjoy them.
The problem is that none of these things are free. My sweetheart told me today that Texas toast cost $1.20 more than the regular loaf bread. So you pay more to cut the same

An amuse-bouche

An amuse bouche is usually a complimentary bit of food that is served in order to warm up your palate for the appetizer or meal.
In the past I have preached and taught a series “How to Study the Bible.” Some have benefited from that and others struggle with the task of reading the Bible. The struggle is not due to reading level, ability to read, or even difficult words and imagery—though some may find these to be very real difficulties. More often than not the reason for

Obedience is the very best way

It is easy to complain about where you are and what is happening. It is more difficult, for most people, to accept the situation and glorify God. I believe the coronavirus is real. I believe that it is acceptable to choose whether or not to wear a mask. I also believe that this virus is being spun purely for political purposes—by both politicians and the media. The thing I am concerned about is the Believer’s response to the situation. Throw caution to the wind is unbiblic

Psalm 17:8 Keep me as the apple of the eye, hide me under the shadow of thy wings, 9 From the wicked that oppress me, from my deadly enemies, who compass me about. 10 They are inclosed in their own fat: with their mouth they speak proudly. 11 They have now compassed us in our steps: they have set their eyes bowing down to the earth; 12 Like as a lion that is greedy of his prey, and as it were a young lion lurking in secret places. 13 Arise, O Lord, disappoint him, cast him

I am amazed at how this has become a Christian freedom issue and to some even persecution. To others it has become constitutional rights. Yes, I believe this is political—it is completely about politics and who will sit in the oval office. Yes, it will have far reaching implications no matter which candidate wins. I will remind you that God began to take care of the Church before the foundation of the World and God is still taking care of the Church, the Body and Bride, tod
